Tonic Nail Polish ~ Coco on Canal Street

Tonic Nail Polish ~ Coco on Canal Street
Red linear holo

Coco on Canal Street is half of a duo that was a store exclusive for Color4Nails.

I used two easy and fast drying coats for my manicure. This is such a pretty red polish!

I stamped flowers on it. I used the design from Lina’s stamping plate “Make your Mark! 04”. It’s a plate with lovely designs on it, but it doesn’t seem to be etched as well as my other Lina plates. I can only get it to work properly if I use my sticky stamper – it won’t work with my clear stamper unfortunately.
I used El Corazón’s stamping polish “Peach Echo” for the flowers.

Anyway – I applied a layer of “Northern Lights” holo glitter topcoat over the whole thing and then my manicure was done. Here it is in the sunshine:

This is the same thing in my lightbox. The polish is still really pretty in my opinion.

This is Coco on Canal Street alone; two coats and a layer of topcoat.

Golden Rose ~ Color Expert #31

Golden Rose ~ Color Expert #31
Dark purple shimmer

Today I wanted to try polishes I bought on my latest vacation in Poland.

I used two easy coats of Golden Rose #31. The drying time is good. When it was dry I made dots diagonally on my nails with W7’s white polish called “White”. Then I made purple dots in the middle of the white dots with the Golden Rose.

When it was all dry, I applied a layer of Wibo’s effect polish “Strobing Nail Polish #1” – it’s a strong pink shimmer.

This is my final manicure photographed in the sun.

Here’s two coats of the Golden Rose with a layer of topcoat over. It’s a really pretty purple.

OPI ~ Turn on the Northern Lights!

OPI ~ Turn on the Northern Lights!
Deep purple with shimmer

“Turn On the Northern Lights!” is from the Iceland Collection from Autumn 2017 and the only one I bought from that collection. I bought it mostly because of the amazing looking shimmer – I will get back to that.

I used two easy coats for full coverage. The drying time was good.

Before I show you how it looks on its own I am going to talk about the nail art I did today: I tried foil for the very first time!! I used Moyra’s “Foil polish for stamps”. The concept is that you stamp your desired pattern onto the nails, and then apply foil into the still wet stamping polish.

It went good. Perhaps it went a little too good… I stamped a design onto my nails and then pressed the foil against the still wet polish. I removed the foil and… there were not only foil where the stamp was, haha!

This is how it ended up looking, including a layer of water based topcoat:

And this is the pattern that I wanted it to be (from the stamping plate Kaledoscope BPX-L009):

Anyway, back to the base polish, “Turn on the Northern Lights!” Like I said, I bought it because of the shimmer. This is what two coats on its own look like in the sunshine:

It’s pretty, isn’t it? It’s probably what it is going to look like on the most blog pictures you stumble over in nail polish blog land. The truth is that the shimmer isn’t that prominent outside the sunshine. This is what it looks like most of the time – the picture is taken in my lightbox.

Here are the things I used for my manicure:

One last thing: The shimmer sinks to the bottom of the bottle really quickly and it takes a lot of shaking to mix it all back together.
